Adventures with Cindy!

So today I met up with Cindy and we adventured to see the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. AKA the biggest Catholic church in America.  It is on the site of the Catholic University of America (2 metro stops from Gallaudet). It was crazy and very huge!  The art inside was amazing, and was all mosaic.  Wow!

These are all the pictures that I took:
This is building of Philosophy, Letters, and Sciences
(where their Linguistics department would be---if they have one)

mosaic on the ceiling!
crazy huge organ!
those are all panels of stained glass on the ceiling of the dome
The building there (that looks like a Castle) is an undergrad dorm! Wow!

Ahmg! So gorgeous!!! :D

And I did a bit of wikipediaing... And apparently, it's also the 8th largest religious building in the world, the tallest building in DC, and a National Historical Landmark.

Needless to say, I am jealous. A bit.
